5 Ways to make a Facebook brand page sing

We all know that the secret to social media is content, but once the content is solid, there are so many things a brand can do to spruce up their Facebook page and give it that little something extra! Sometimes it’s these little gems that attract people to the page in the first place, luring them in so they have the opportunity to see the content and become loyal followers of the brand while at the same time, showing your existing fans that they are important and as a brand, you are trying to keep them happy, entertained and engaged. For the brand, depending on how the Facebook page is enhanced, the benefits can be anything from a larger community to a hefty increase in revenue.

These are my picks for the top 5 ways a brand can enhance their Facebook page:

1. Interactive apps

There are lots of different interactive campaigns that have drawn attention to brands in the past (Elf Yourself rings a bell). Why not create something interactive and fun on your Facebook page? It can be a game or involve editing a photo in some special way, but it will drive people to your brand page like wildfire.

Starbucks is great at this tactic and the interactive photo app celebrating the famed Pumpkin Spice Latte is lots of fun!

Fans have the opportunity to turn their photo into a jack-o-lantern. It not only ties in with the product, but also with Halloween!

2. Seasonal information tab or news tab

Give your fans a reason to keep coming back to your Facebook page by providing them with some valuable information that changes at least quarterly. Recipes, upcoming events & sales, new product or relevant news are great content options for a tab like this! With a page like this, the brand can take the opportunity to use links as well where relevant, only making it more worthwhile.

Oreo’s recipes page is a great example of this. By offering fans recipes that all feature the product, they are not only giving their readers something free, but they are also encouraging them to buy the product. Furthermore, these recipes can be changed seasonally and highlight timely recipes like the football one on the top of the page, perfect for American football which is currently in season.

3. Gift cards

The Victoria’s Secret Pink Facebook page offers users the opportunity to purchase gift cards via Facebook. Furthermore, this feature allows your friends to chip in and once the gift is ready, it’s pasted on the recipient’s wall! This gift card option works so well because in these modern times, there are people that we keep in touch with mostly through Facebook – maybe someone you know moved recently or there’s that one friend that you have a phone number for, but no e-mail address. When the Facebook birthday reminder pops up or when you’re looking for a quick and easy way to send people some holiday gifts, this is the perfect option!

4. FB Storefront

Convenience is key in this day and age! If you want your Facebook page to increase your revenue, why not make it easier for your fans by providing them with a way purchase your amazing product without leaving the page?

5. Something free – webcasts, wall papers, etc.

Besides the obvious freebies and promotion discount codes, there are other things you can offer your Facebook fans that will keep them happy and drive new traffic to the page. Webcasts, free wallpapers and other downloads are a good incentive! Coca-Cola has a fan download page that encourages you to ‘like’ the page to receive free downloads! For an iconic brand like Coca-Cola, whose merchandise and packaging is often collectable, this is a brilliant idea!

These are just a few of the many available options for how a brand can spruce up their Facebook brand page. The sky is the limit! The important thing to remember here is that you will get as much out of your brand page as you put into it. Working with just the basics will not maximise your brand page’s potential, but with some creativity and a few appropriately placed apps, you can make your Facebook page sing!
