Happy Birthday to YouTube

Alex Christie

17 May 2010

Five years ago the YouTube founders launched the first beta version of YouTube.com.  What started as a very simple space to ‘broadcast yourself’ has turned into an exciting community of users, far exceeding the founders original expectations.  With over 2 billion views per day the site has been crowned the ’3rd most visited website’. All the more reason for YouTube to celebrate their fifth birtday!

In celebration YouTube invites people to upload stories of how YouTube changed their lives. Add your story to the YouTube Five Year channel.

Check out the YouTube time line which depicts an interesting summary of the growth and progress made over the last five years (below) or visit the official YouTube blogpost for more interesting facts and videos to celebrate this exciting goalpost.
