Tamar TLC – Gugulethu round 3, Day 3

Day 3 of Tamar Cape Town’s project at Vuyani and once again the sun rose over the industrious painters and diggers who finished off the bookshelves and outdoor classroom in record time.

First up was the shade cloth over the outdoor classroom area, while a very long assembly line of bookshelves was set up, with everyone enthusiastically painting in the sunshine.

Chicken legs where offered round as a midmorning snack, but passed over in favour of cooling ice lollies.

By lunchtime Naeem’s mother’s legendary chicken curry was well received by the hungry workers, and proved to be just what was needed to provide us with the strength the finish assembling all 14 giant bookshelves in no less than an hour!

After presenting them to the teachers and positioning them in the classrooms it was time to hang the blackboard in the outdoor classroom and level out the kids seating – which involved rather a lot of digging.

As the sun began to set it was a very satisfied team that headed home, looking forward (sadly) to the final day tomorrow…
