Tamar TLC – Gugulethu Day 4

Alex Christie

12 June 2009

Our final day at the school was mainly occupied by tying up some loose ends and saying farewell to the students and teachers.

We furnished the ‘outside classroom’ with a bed of tires for climbing about on, that can also double up us seating in front of the blackboard we installed on the wall.

We also installed the cross beam on the see-saws in the playground. It wasn’t 5 seconds after completion and we counted 24 of the children on just one of the see-saws.

After a quick cleanup, we all crammed into a classroom with the teachers and were treated to some kind words from the teaching staff.

Upon wrapping up the work at Vuyani, we all headed to Myles’s house for a well deserved ‘braai’.

Our time spent at Vuyani this week has been such a joy. The weather has been excellent and we made some strong new bonds with the children and with each other. Good work guys!
