Oak Lodge School project, London – an appeal for materials and skills!
At the moment we're all working hard to scope and plan the Oak Lodge School project and we're now appealing for skills and materials to help us out. We've had some fantastic help already from Lydia and Roland at FCP Architects, who have created some fantastic concepts for the outdoor teaching area. They've kindly donated their time and skills to the project and we couldn't have got this far without them; thank you so much.
Tamar has been fundraising to cover costs, and will be donating a weeks worth of company time for all 30 of us to work on the project by building structures, doing planting and gardening. We're intending to complete as much of the work ourselves during the week and whilst we've raised money to cover essential costs we're asking local businesses if they are willing to get involved.
We're looking for people who could help us out with laying the foundations in advance, and who could donate materials to the project.
Just to remind you, we're specifically going to be building an amphitheatre for the school that can be used as an outdoor teaching, play and performance area for the children. We're also going to be refurbishing outdoor areas by creating a play area, refurbishing the greenhouse and pond, creating a vegetable patch and collaborating with the school on outdoor art projects as well.
We're hoping that you might be able to sell us materials at a reduced price, or even as a donation, and these materials will all be used in the building work during that week. We're hoping that local businesses will have heard of the school and would be interested in support a project for a school that's doing genuinely exceptional work with less advantaged children to equip them to leave a normal fulfilling life.
At this stage we're still finalising the structure but we're anticipating that it will be largely wooden with decking flooring and trellised roofing, so we're just interested to know if this is something that you'd be able to help us with? Please drop us a line by commenting on this post, or just call Nicky, Barrie or Rob on 0208 995 7878.
Thanks in advance for all your help!
