Track Google outages with Google Apps Status Dashboard

Google's new Apps Status Dashboard is a daily update on any outages or disruptions. Drawing attention to breakdowns when they occur seams to be part of Google's pledge to be more open about service outages.

A few weeks ago a small amount (no number were released) of Gmail's 100 million users were locked out of their accounts. Word spread quickly about the trouble and Google responded by setting up this new service. This transparent approach is refreshing but they've opened themselves up to bloggers and reports to report all the trouble. For the record Microsoft offers a help centre with a community board where users can report problems.
