I've been using the micro-blogging service Twitter for some time now and I've always found it strange that there is no on-site search function. Users had to use a separate URL to perform a search. Thankfully it looks like that is about to change according to the official Twitter blog:
“Twitter Search has been growing ever more popular despite the fact that it lives on a subdomain of our site. Today, we've placed Search and Trends into the signed-in home pages of a limited set of accounts to get a better sense of how it works for folks before we release the feature completely into the wild. Most people will not see this test, just a small, random subset. We're looking forward to a full launch once a bunch of us have kicked the tires a bit.”
Searching Twitter is always a fun way to see what’s going on in the hive mind regarding certain current events and topics. I look forward to being able to perform searches without leaving the twitter homepage.

My experience of twitter: slow cantankerous yet useful! I have never been able to get to the search page it is always 404…
