Adopt-a-blog #7 – Guy Kawasaki

Guy Kawasaki is a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine and is managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm.

Guy’s blog is entitled “How to save the World“, and contains a wide variety of posts from those that focus on personal self-improvement to those that reflect on the impact surroundings have on society.

As you would expect from a former Apple employee there is also a good helping of tech related articles.

Good Points

Apart from the interesting nature of his posts, one of the first things I noticed about this blog is that every post has a five star rating underneath.  This rating shows how many users have voted for the article and what the average rating is.  This kind of user generated content automatically gives the blog a sense of “authority”.  The blog also has an “All time top 10” listing of blog posts, based on these user ratings which I found quite useful when choosing which entries to read.

Bad Points

One of  my main issues with this page is how long it took to load.  If a picture is worth a 1000 words then this could be one of the biggest blogs in history!  I started counting the photos on the page, but gave up at 50 when I realised the scrollbar on my browser wasn’t even halfway down the page.

Overall the posts on this site are interesting, well written and quite though provoking.  This blog is definitely worth the time it takes for the page to load.
