Another year in the life of Britney Spears

Alex Christie

3 December 2008

Not for the first time Britney Spears has ended the year as the most popular search term on Yahoo.com. Amazingly she ended up top of the list for the last seven out of eight years.
With today being only the 2nd of December (co-indecently also Britney's birthday) it seems a little premature to be reviewing the whole year but still rather amazing considering it was a very eventful year.

When you consider there were some rather significant elections, an Olympic games, a world wide economic crisis to name a few but Britney remains the top search term. It says a lot for the celebrity obsessed world we live in.

The top queries of the year on Yahoo are:

  1. Britney Spears

  2. WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment)
  3. Barack Obama
  4. Miley Cyrus

  5. RuneScape

  6. Jessica Alba

  7. Naruto

  8. Lindsay Lohan
  9. Angelina Jolie
  10. American Idol

And for comparison, here is last year’s list:

  1. Britney Spears
  2. WWE
  3. Paris Hilton
  4. Naruto
  5. Beyonce
  6. Lindsay Lohan
  7. Rune Scape
  8. Fantasy Football
  9. Fergie
  10. Jessica Alba
