I was very lucky today and a special person bought me a special present – a Sony Reader. I've only had it for a few hours but readers of this blog will be delighted to hear that I've already established that my last gadget, The Sanctuary, does have a connector cable that charges it, so it still hasn't been beaten.
I'm in the process of loading the 100 free books that come with the Reader but so far am hugely impressed with it.
It's much lighter (about 260g \ 9 oz) and thinner (8mm) than I imagined it would be, with a very impressive leather case which adds to the feeling of reading a 'real' book and the screen is gorgeous, a very 'papery' feel, not back lit so it's calmer on your eyes and very soothing to read. If you're cynical about the ease of use of eReaders then this screen will convert you.
My usual gripe for all these sort of devices is the battery power but this one will apparently last for over 6,000 page turns which I reckon is just enough to last me for the overnight flight to Cape Town. Goodbye to all those trashy paperbacks I usually load up with at the airport!
Now where can I download Jordan's autobiography from?Tweet
