The best websites in the world…ever. Vol.24

Alex Christie

6 November 2008

Thinking about what to write for this post, I’ve realised that I don’t really have any three particular “best” websites. Sure I visit certain sites on a daily basis, but I could easily go without them. So instead I will list the three websites that I regularly visit to keep myself informed and or entertained.

First up, is NEWS24.co.za. It’s and South African news agency, similar to the BBC in the UK. They are basically a one stop for news and articles on national and international news, sports, cars, food, property, women…. you get the idea.

Second is a site I use to keep up to date with the tech industry, I actually receive their daily email and only visit the site to read the articles. It is called the The Code Project.  The site is in actual fact a developer’s resource, which host great articles for developers to read up on. In actual fact, many times when I am researching solutions for ASP.NET or C# code, I end up on their site reading one of the posters articles. The news section, with the daily email, is really just a bonus, but a great one indeed.

Lastly, and this is painful as I never thought I would hear myself say this, but I have to put Facebook into my number three slot. The main reason for this is really simple, if it wasn’t for Facebook I wouldn’t be able to keep in touch with family and friends who have been separated from my daily life. Sure, if only one more person has to say to me that they’ve seen my photo on Facebook or that I lied about where I would have been on an certain evening or catch me doing stuff I am not suppossed to, I will crack. In the end however, I rather look at the positive side of things and for now that will keep me a fan of Facebook(or rather a Facebook User).
