What a week if was for the Beeb last week? Despite the furore, www.bbc.co.uk remains one of my favourite sites – my one-stop shop, if you will! Beyond the obvious, a delicious new recipe, a quick translation, and of course the fantastic iPlayer! All going a long way to making my life a whole lot easier, and less stressful! Yes, I do get stressed when I’m not around to catch the next ‘Heroes’ episode!
My second most used, rather than an actual favourite is www.amazon.co.uk. Again, Amazon has been part of my life for so long now, that it would be hard to imagine life without it– who was it who was able to offer up books, music, movies, now cosmetics/toiletries, that surprise, surprise, do interest me, or at least generate sufficient interest that sees me review further, and often time, purchase? Of course, it was friends, sometimes family, that fulfilled this role in days of old – good dinner, pub or fireside conversations. Hmmm……
And then there’s Google! Not sure that I can find anything to say about this site, that hasn’t been said or written before? Was there life before www.google.co.uk, I ask? Seems hard to remember, I must confess
Boring, yes, that I should be this predictable and so mainstream with my choice, but before I leave you, or should that be you leave me (?), I thought that I would mention a couple of sites that I ‘love’ – ‘If music be the food of love’, then www.last.fm is it! Love it for its simplicity – important for a technophobe like me! Thank-you Kristian, for introducing me to ‘last.fm’.
And the guardian online, www.guardian.co.uk, for all matters cultural, travel and ‘of the heart’ (a couple of my friends can vouch for this!), it’s fantastic! Do I feel a ‘hat’ moment coming on? Of course www.facebook.com and www.linkedin.com, for reuniting me with friends and colleagues, all over the world – thank-you! The number of ‘blasts from the past’ is now ‘uncountable’!Tweet
