Yahoo Web Analytics

Alex Christie

16 October 2008

Yahoo recently launched its own web analytics
package. Formally known as IndexTools it was rebranded and re-launched under
the Yahoo banner as Yahoo web
analytics
.

Some early
comments about this “new” analytics package suggests that it is way ahead of Google Analytics in terms of
functionality, speed and usability. It has been compared to the more
traditional (and very expensive) analytics vendors such as Site Catalyst,
Webtrends, and Omniture. Yahoo web
analytics
will be freely available.

However they placed a huge emphasis on
security and will be distributing user rights in batches to selected users. We can
expect the popularity of Yahoo web
analytics
to grow dramatically as users discover its vast array of
features.
