Google launch Project 10 to the 100th

Alex Christie

24 September 2008

As part of Google’s 10th birthday celebrations, the search engine giant has launched project 10 to the 100th. Users of the search engine are invited to submit ideas to the project with the single aim of "helping as many people as possible".

Google has placed as few restrictions as possible on the project but  asks that ideas to be submitted under a number of set categories; Community, Opportunity, Energy, Environment, Health, Education, Shelter and Everything Else. Each idea submitted is judged against the reach, depth, attainability, efficiency and longevity of the proposed idea. The top 100 proposals will be put up for public vote in order to find 20 semi-finalists, of which 5 finalists will be selected. Google are committing $10 million to implement each of these chosen projects.

The deadline for ideas is the 20th October 2008 where users can submit through a simple submission form and are invitied to suplement their proposal with a 30 second video.

Social Responsibility is extremely important to everyone working at Tamar which lead to establishing our own charity, the Tamar Lifeline Charity. We would like to urge anyone with any kind of idea to get involved with Google’s Project 10 to the 100th…with such a large amount of money up for grabs, I’m sure we would all like to see it help as many people as possible. If you are looking for some inspiration or would like to see how Tamar’s own Social Repsonsibility program is progressing, check out Tamar’s Social Reponsibility Blog.

Best of luck with your submissions!
