Alternative Search Engines

In an effort to keep my promise of featuring alternative search engines I am posting up this gem. TinEye is a new image only search engine but it actually searches the image, it creates a fingerprint of each image and then searches its database for images that match yours. I think it is pretty nifty to catch people nicking your content and passing it off as their own.

Other potential uses for the are massive if they can tweak the algorithm a bit more to recognise faces and stolen property, especially with the number of photographs being uploaded every day.

have a look at hello kitty for an example…

    Very useful post!
Now I can keep a better track of any photos and artwork I put up on my website.

I believe there are other search engines out there like http://find.com that don’t land on the top 100 list but worth checking out too.
