Google

Google has weighed
in at number 1 in the
YouGov survey
for Superbrands, released today. The internet goliath saw off previous
high rankers Tesco, and Asda – who both fell more than 190 places in the
rankings.

Whilst the food
sector lost out, with the blame being attributed to lost consumer confidence
due to high and fluctuating food prices – Google soared to number one from last
years third place in the survey, which takes in the opinions of 2,200 consumers.

Google’s climb is
being attributed to individual’s value of lifestyle brands – particularly the
technology sector.  Microsoft is present
to support this theory – following up in second place.

Surely this is
further indication that the online sector is in a comparatively strong position
compared to a economic market that is currently short changing the consumer – both
on price and on confidence.

The YouGov survey for Superbrands rankings:

  1. Google
  2. Microsoft
  3. Mercedes-Benz
  4. BBC
  5. British Airways
  6. Royal Doulton
  7. BMW
  8. Bosch
  9. Nike
