One of the best (in my opinion) additions to Google’s services in recent memory has to be Google Maps. I haven’t really spent that much time using their Street View option, but every now and again some entertaining pictures have found their way onto my pc screen.
As you may or may not know, the Google Street View is recorded by a van that drives around with a huge satellite on the back of it transmitting images of plots back to the GooglePlex where they are uploaded to Google Maps.
Some people in the states have complained about the "invasive" nature of these photographs and I think some of them might have a point. Nude pictures, arrests in progress and even people falling on their bicycles have popped up all over the net, I thought I’d share my muffled chuckles with all of you.
Here is a small selection of my favourites (in no particular order) :
1. Busted
Unfortunately for this suspect the Google van was passing while he was being read his rights. In Folsom Street! (To whom that means nothing, click here for an explanation) You can’t make this up!
This was the first one of these odd pictures I saw on the Street View, but unfortunately it has been removed, but I found this blog with some screenshots. This is how not to ride your bike.
What?! A genuine black hole? We’ve been searching for so long, little did we know that there was one right here on earth. In San Francisco mind, fittingly.
Yes, there are even hot babes on the back of trucks in the USA. What more could you want? A picture of it on Google Maps Streetview.
Well, in this poor guys case, he lost his entire head. At least he can’t be identified, besides the glaringly obvious fact that he has no head.
Let’s hope his wife doesn’t read this blog. If she does, I am sorry.
Surely he shouldn’t have to jump the fence to his own house with a set of keys that size dangling from his pocket, oh wait…
8. Nice view?
Boys will be boys.
9. School outings worth attending
This was one field trip never to be forgotten.
Maybe next time the Google van should turn its equipment off when stopping off for lunch, unless the road does actually go straight through this MacDonalds branch, entirely possible I guess.
11. Walk this way
For this one you need to click South down to 522 Connecticut St and keep an eye for the bins on the right hand side. This poor guy was so overwhelmed when he saw the Google van coming he fell over, but the best is that Google caught him in the process of falling.
This has to be one of my favourites, a driver of the Google van. Keep out of the camera!
13. Why?
This just makes no sense! A huge pumpkin in a field…Rotate the camera 180 degrees for even more madness.
That is all for now, I hope you enjoy them, if you have found any other ones, please leave the link as a comment, the more the merrier!

You missed my favouriete – the Carrier Bag over the camera lens!

This is my personal favorite Street View blog article:

Very entertaining post. I like the bit about the dinosaurs…
