Blackberryfacebooklogo First of all, I should start by apologising for the slightly sensationalist headline to this entry. Last time I used a similar one, it seemed to get a lot of views, so I thought I should see if lightning really does strike twice. Anyway, where was I? Incidentally, I would normally add a courteous line break in here, but Typepad for Blackberry doesn’t let you [UPDATE: I was able to fix that when I got home!]

Thankfully though, at least one "…for Blackberry" app is catching up – namely the Facebook App. After a bit of a false start last month, the good (but slow) people at R.I.M. have finally updated their Facebook for Blackberry application to bring it up to speed with the online version – in at least one respect.

Yes, after months of waiting they have finally removed the mandatory "is" from your status updates. I’m sure I can hear a distant chorus of "Hallelujiahs" somewhere? Admittedly this is not really huge news, but for those of us who have spent the last few months freeing ourselves from the shackles of the mandatory "is" on facebook.com, we can finally apply the same creativity to our mobile-based updates…. Now, I’m off to think of a witty status update to celebrate!
