Bill just can’t give up on search

It was announced 2 years ago that Bill Gates is set to retire on July 1.

He confessed recently however that he’ll remain heavily involved in Microsoft’s internal development.

He reckons that  80% of his time will be spent concentrating on his charity the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and 20% of his time will be spent in an advisory capacity working on developing search.

Why can’t he just walk away? He’s made billions, built a massively successful business that has influenced the way the world works.

The only blight on his otherwise phenomenal business career is his companies’ track record in search. Despite all their efforts in the last year including huge bids for Yahoo, Microsoft has some unfinished business when it comes to the search market.

He’s only 52 though so I suppose he has time to put things right. He’s got a lot of catching up to do though.
