Centralising your social media!

When stepping back to take a look into the wild and rapidly developing world of social media, it’s soon pretty clear just how decentralised all our personal information has become.  Individual’s online presence have evolved into an intricate labyrinth of sites, all important in their own right, but Felixfragmented nonetheless.  For example Luigi has all his photos on Flickr, videos on YouTube, personal profile on FaceBook, favourite pizza joint on Eat-this-site – the list just goes on and on.

So how would one even attempt to try and centralise all this personal information?  Well of course RSS would be high on the list, along with useful tools such as Friend Feed and Social Thing.  These handy apps are useful not only to arrange all your day to day updates, but also attempt to integrate the vast plethora of competing social media sites out there.

All this is well and good, and perhaps its masks a slightly more pertinent point – where social media may be heading in years to come??

You make a very good point Neilson, do think it would be possible for social networking sites in the future to work together and create one “super site”?
