A glimpse into the future

Matt Cutts of Google gives some 2008 predictions

Sir Matt has given his thoughts on what may occur in the rest of 2008, can you believe we are in March already? Anyway, check out what he has to say here. Bear in mind this is his personal blog.

Headlines of interest to us and for those who cannot be be bothered to read through the details are:

  • 2008 will be the year that hacking and search engine optimization (SEO) collide in a major way.

By this Matt means black hats SEO’s will be hacking sites for links or landing pages – interesting!

  • Someone will write a “Google Backup” tool that backs up all your data from Google by saving data from Google Calendar, Gmail, Docs, Reader, websearch, and Blogger.

This sounds like a really neat idea, anyone up for it?

Matt also mentions the possible start up of a company that concentrates on improving email productivity, again this sounds great as does a ‘best of’ RSS feeds idea.

This is Matts own take on things and as he says check back in 2009 to see how many of his predictions come true!
