Yahoo! Who want a piece of them?

News Corp show interest, or do they?

The saga of who actually ends up owning or partnering with Yahoo! once Microsoft tabled a bid was always going to run a wee bit. Rarely is anything as simple as I want to buy you, here is an offer, its agreed and everyone walks away happy.

The latest information over the last couple of days, that seems to be losing steam instead of gaining it depending on who you talk to, is that News Corp are interested in a possible merger of their MySpace business with Yahoo!

The idea would be for News Corp to take a 20 per cent stake in Yahoo in exchange for control of MySpace. This would increase the potential ad revenues they could drive but even together these may not be a match for Google.

And there is still talk of rehashing the old AOL/Yahoo! merger from a few years ago. However, the smart money is still on a Microsoft/Yahoo! merger. But do expect new and exciting developments until someone finally takes the plunge at either end!
