Finally they get it right, well sort of!
We often give Google a hard time over the implementation and quality of their News results, and rightly so. But yesterday it was good to see them in action in a good way.
The unfortunate plane crash at Heathrow showed just how quickly and accurately Google could amass information on a breaking news story, index, rank and display the information not only in their News section but also in the main search results.
I was impressed that very soon after the news story broke the information was already being gathered and a search for ‘plane crash heathrow’ showed results from the Google News section.
By early evening yesterday over 1,000 articles had been gathered and were available, not to mention videos and images. The count now stands at 1,335 news stories, that some good indexing!!
So hats of to Google for some really neat and quick information gathering and distribution.Tweet
