Online marketing set to overtake magazines by 2010

New report predicts the extent of global online marketing growth

A marketing report out suggests that by 2010 online marketing spend will overtake magazine marketing. This will make it the third largest advertising medium in the world.

According to the report by 2010 the global ad spend will be split at 37.5% for TV, 24.5% for newspapers, and 11.5% for online ads, with other mediums making up the rest of an estimated $530bn (£257bn) total spend.

Online marketing spend is currently still behind radio advertising globally but is set to overtake this next year (although this has already happened in the UK market).

The growth is forecast to come particularly from developing online markets in Western Europe and China.
