Google doing what Baidu does

Another related searches observation, I am getting obsessed!

Following on from yesterdays related searches observation where we observed 34 open spots on the Google results page including eight related searches listings we have noticed that Google is replicating in China what Baidu is doing. That is, providing ten related searches.

See blow on www.google.cn using a search for ‘tourism’:

Tourismg

and here for the same search on www.baidu.com

Tourismb

So does this mean that more related searches are going to appear on www.google.co.uk or is this just Google responding to a local need from the dominent Chinese search engine. (Baidu 67%, Google 22%)

Either way, we find it interesting that Google is copying Baidu, at least in this area and we are watching to see what else they are doing perhaps to appeal to a new audience but using familiar layouts.
