Social Media not just for the young – but we knew that!

Saga has successfully launched a Social Media section aimed at the over 50′s called the Saga Zone and it is proving to be very successful according to a variety of reports today.

With over 13,000 people having signed up in the last four months trial it is officially launched this week and should prove to be very popular with the groups 650,000 members.

Data recently released by Ofcom  showed "silver surfers" spend increasing amounts of time online with around 16 per cent of over-65s using the internet, while the over-50s account for 30 per cent of all time spent online by people in the UK.

While a lot of attention is devoted to sites like Facebook, and rightly so, it is great to see other companies using Social Media to appeal and talk directly to their own customers.
