We’re back but the work continues!

Well we’ve left Cape Town but the work continues at Vuyani Primary to
complete the two classrooms. Ravi from Cashbuild is visiting the site
daily to make sure everything is ready for the final push next weekend.

Ravi has sent us an update on work completed in the last two days:

  • The classroom will get power today. This has taken a bit longer as there has been a issue with the main power cable.
  • The plumbing is done.
  • The water supply to the classroom will be complete
  • All the doors are hung apart from the beautiful carved partition doors
  • The builders are busy cleaning the face bricks.

In contrast to most of last week it was a clear settled weather in Cape
Town today and this is making it much easier for the builders to make

Myles from our Cape Town office spoke to Thandi, Vuyani’s basketball
coach today. Thandi works for an NGO called ‘Hoops for Hopes’ and is
delighted with the new basketball court.

The teacher’s strike is still running with no sign of resolution. This
does allow for the builders to keep working and means when the children
come back to school the classroom will be ready.

Keep checking back for updates on the classroom in the build up
Saturday when the Tamar Cape Town crew and Cashbuild managers will be
painting and decorating the classroom. We're back but the work continues!
