The new travel portal from Yahoo! has all the features you would
expect: an attractive interface and simple navigation. However in an
attempt to really stand out against the mass of travel portals out
there, the site has incorporated an element of personalisation. Through
‘my Yahoo’ the site allows users to plan their trip, track and check
their reservations and even receive alerts about tips, travel
destinations, fares and weather reports. What’s more this week the
portal has joined forces with Flickr – the webs most popular
photo-sharing site, allowing users to tag and share photographs of
their travels.

Neilson says:

‘Yahoo has raised the bar with its latest offering. However
personalisation will soon be expected as standard, so perhaps in the
next stage of evolution we will start to see more elements of vertical
search included as well’
